NBA analyst makes case for LeBron James to join NY Knicks

As the NBA offseason rages on, LeBron James has been one of the league’s most talked-about players. After opting in to his player option for next season, speculation has arisen about the 21-time All-Star being traded.

Rich Paul added fuel to this fire with comments about LeBron wanting to compete for a championship in this late stage of his career. This discourse has also stemmed from the fact that LA has a new young superstar to build around for the future in Luka Doncic.

Though LeBron has not told the Lakers he wants to be traded, potential landing spots for the star forward have been a hot topic of conversation around the NBA. During Thursday’s episode of “Get Up” on ESPN, Alan Hahn stated that the Knicks should be a team on his radar if he seeks a change of scenery.

“Where is the fastest, easiest path to the NBA Finals for LeBron James,” Hahn said. “It’s right here in New York…It’s a place that you could say, if he comes here, there is a path to the NBA Finals.”

With the Knicks being fresh off a conference finals appearance, they are a team on the cusp of reaching the finals. Also, their recent coaching hire makes a LeBron trade interesting. Going to New York would give the NBA icon a chance to reunite with one of his former head coaches in Mike Brown.

The Knicks have been in search of roster upgrades, but recent news suggests they don’t want to mortgage assets for an aging star. It’s why New York wasn’t involved with the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, and could result in them having minimal interest in LeBron.

Instead of drastically shaking up their roster, the Knicks are hoping their minor tweaks in the margins help them get closer to their goal of winning a championship.
