Man Utd backs out of striker deal as Saudi club makes contact with transfer target

Manchester United may have just let a key signing slip through their fingers — again.

The club’s pursuit of Fiorentina striker Moise Kean has hit a standstill, with reports (via Corriere dello Sport) suggesting United have pulled back from talks despite earlier interest.

Meanwhile, Saudi side Al-Qadsiah have swooped in, offering Kean a massive £250,000-a-week contract to lure him away from Europe.

The 25-year-old Italian forward had been on United’s radar as they look to fix a long-standing issue in front of goal.

Last season, Kean scored 25 goals and provided three assists across all competitions — numbers that turned heads at Old Trafford. But while the release clause of £44 million is active, United’s decision-makers are stalling.

And while the Red Devils weigh their options, Al-Qadsiah aren’t waiting around. The Saudi Pro League side is pushing hard, and with that kind of money on the table, Kean might just swap Tuscan hills for Middle Eastern heat.

Why Man Utd are Stalling over Moise Kean deal?

There are a few reasons United are cooling off on this deal — and none of them involve saving money for a rainy day.

First, Ruben Amorim has already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves and is reportedly still chasing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

But Brentford are digging in, and so far, no breakthrough has been reached. That’s left United in a striker shuffle — and Kean’s name may just be slipping to the bottom of the list.

Then there’s the memory of Kean’s forgettable Premier League stint with Everton.

United know the Premier League is no Serie A. And while Kean’s form has improved in Italy, there’s no guarantee he’ll hit the ground running in England.

Still, with Hojlund and Zirkzee struggling to find the net last season, United badly need a reliable goal-getter.

If Kean ends up in Saudi, it might not just be a missed transfer — it could be another chapter in the Red Devils’ ongoing striker saga.
