The Vancouver Canucks have locked up one of their top guys long-term.
Dan Murphy, a Vancouver Canucks reporter from Sportsnet, reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Canucks’ right winger Brock Boeser has signed a seven-year extension with Vancouver for $7.25 million per year.
“7.25 x 7 for Boeser in VAN,” Murphy’s post read.
Boeser staying in Vancouver helps relieve a lot of stress for Canuck fans and helps give the team a chance to get back to the playoffs next season. In 75 games, Boeser finished with 50 points on 25 goals and 25 assists.
In the 2023-2024 season, Boeser played even better as he scored 40 goals and assisted on 33 more for a total of 73 points. His performance that season helped Vancouver get to the playoffs where the Canucks made it to the second round of the playoffs. Boeser scored seven goals in the Canucks’ 2023-2024 playoff run.
Boser is a two-time NHL All-Star, including making an appearance in the 2024 NHL All-Star game. He was on the NHL All-Rookie team his first season in 2018. In the eight seasons that Boeser has played in the NHL, he has scored at least 20 goals in six of them.
Boeser’s extension comes just hours after the Canucks extended goaltender Thatcher Demko, who played an important role in Vancouver’s most recent playoff appearance.
With both of the biggest priorities taken care of, Vancouver sets themselves up to be a playoff hopeful going into the 2025-2026 season.
