The Lakers and Mavericks have plenty of recent history, most notably the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade that teamed Doncic with LeBron James and sent shockwaves through the sports universe. Now the two teams will clash in primetime at the 2025 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, a hot-ticket event with Mavs’ No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg going against Bronny James.
There might not be two more widely-discussed players in the entirety of Summer League. Flagg is the most heralded rookie since Spurs generational big man Victor Wembanyama two years ago, while Bronny is the son of the most famous and skilled superstar baller since Michael Jordan. So, it’s no surprise that this game will air nationally on ESPN.

Doncic and AD obviously won’t be playing in the Summer League, which is typically reserved for rookies and other younger, still-developing players in the Association. Still, it will be interesting to see the young role players for LA and Dallas, both of which are expected to be contenders once again in the 2025-26 season.
