Real Madrid have booked their spot in the Round of 16 of the Club World Cup after bagging two wins and one draw in the group stage.
While they have been maintaining an undefeated streak in the competition so far, one of the Real Madrid squad, Kylian Mbappe, is yet to make his debut in the Club World Cup.
Mbappe was unable to feature in all three of Real Madrid’s group stage clashes after being diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis ahead of their opening match of the competition.
Now, as Real Madrid prepare for their first knockout match of this year’s competition, head coach Xabi Alonso has provided an optimistic update on Kylian’s fitness.
What did Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso say about Kylian Mbappe?
While addressing the press ahead of Real Madrid’s upcoming clash in the Club World Cup, Alonso mentioned (comments via ESPN) that there is a ‘big possibility’ of Mbappe making an appearance.
“Kylian is doing well now and we are speaking every single day. We will talk to him in the morning to make the final decision. It’s a big possibility that he makes his Club World Cup debut tomorrow, though. I don’t know how much, but it’s a big possibility,” said the Spanish manager.
