Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for Fabian Ruiz, but prising him away from Paris Saint-Germain might be trickier than nutmegging Casemiro in training.
The Spanish midfielder is back in the spotlight after a superb season with PSG. Ruiz played a key role in the French side’s historic 2024–25 campaign, lifting four trophies — including the Champions League.
His performances have caught the attention of several clubs, with United and Saudi side Al-Nassr leading the chase, as per Footmercato.
But there’s a big hurdle. PSG boss Luis Enrique doesn’t just like Ruiz — he’s counting on him and considers him essential.
“Not taking him to the World Cup as a coach was a mistake on my part. I accept that,” Enrique admitted earlier this year. “He’s very important for us (…) he’s one of my best midfielders.”
It’s a major turnaround from 2022, when Enrique left Ruiz out of the Spain squad for Qatar. Now, the coach calls him vital — both on and off the pitch.

Ruiz’s stats last season speak for themselves. The 29-year-old featured in 58 games across competitions, starting 43 of them. He scored six goals and provided 11 assists, forming a smooth midfield engine alongside Joao Neves and Vitinha.
With his contract running until 2027, PSG are in no hurry to let him go. In fact, they’re planning to open talks over a possible extension. But that hasn’t stopped clubs from testing the waters.
Other clubs interested in signing Fabian Ruiz
Al-Nassr have joined the queue for Ruiz’s signature, hoping to add more European talent to their growing project in Saudi Arabia. But Man United remain serious contenders — especially as they look to rebuild their midfield.
Still, any move would take more than just money. Ruiz is settled in Paris, where he’s been winning trophies and proving doubters wrong. For now, PSG are focused on keeping their core trio intact.
If United want him, they’ll need more than just charm — they’ll need a convincing pitch and perhaps a little patience.
