Radek Faksa returns to Stars with three year deal

After one year with the St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars fan favorite center Radek Faksa is returning to Dallas after signing a three-year contract worth $6 million.

Faksa was drafted by the Stars with the 13th pick in the 2012 NHL Draft and spent the first nine seasons of his professional career playing for Dallas before he signed a one-year deal with the Blues last offseason.

In his one season with the Blues, Faksa recorded five goals, 10 assists, and 15 points. While he experienced many playoff highs and lows during his first stint with the Stars, Faksa’s one season with the Blues ended in disappointment, as St. Louis fell to the Winnipeg Jets in seven games in the first round.

Now, going back to where things first started for Faksa, he has the opportunity to end his career where it first began, in Dallas.

Faksa returns to Dallas during a time of uncertainty surrounding the franchise. After falling to the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference Finals for the second consecutive season, the Stars fired head coach Peter DeBoer.

The Stars hired Oilers assistant coach Glen Gulutzan as their next head coach today. With Gulutzan now at the helm, expectations are high for the Stars to perform well next season and make it back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2020.

Having Faksa back for the Stars helps the team reach its goal of getting to the Stanley Cup Finals. They’ll also have a veteran on the team who can help lead Dallas to its first Stanley Cup title since 1999.
