Barcelona haven’t been very active in the summer transfer window. They have roped in Joan Garcia from Espanyol and are chasing Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
However, recent updates have suggested that Barcelona’s move to Williams has stalled as his agent wants a guarantee of Barcelona’s ability to register him for the 2025/26 season.
This has also led to the Catalans softening their stance for La Masia star Fermin Lopez, as they are willing to listen to offers for the young midfielder, as per reports via SPORT.
Earlier, when Bayern Munich approached Barcelona for the youngster, Barcelona blocked all the moves as they were unwilling to allow him to depart Camp Nou.
Fermin has signed a long-term contract with Barcelona, keeping him at the club until 2029. But in recent years, his gametime situation is gradually getting unclear with players like Pedri, Frenkie De Jong, Dani Olmo, and even potentially Raphinha occupying central roles.
While Hansi Flick admires Fermin, the Catalans are stacked in midfield positions, and if they sign a new midfielder, he will also demand minutes.

Why could Fermin Lopez leave Barcelona this summer?
Fermin reportedly wants to continue at Camp Nou beyond this summer. However, considering Barcelona’s wage bill, they could be forced to sell the Spain international.
If they manage to sign Williams, they would need to balance the books, and he could be the player who gets sold.
Also with Williams’ arrival, Raphinha could shift to a more central role, an area the 22-year-old midfielder prefers. So he could see his gametime dwindle in the upcoming season.
Fermin played a big role in helping Barcelona win the domestic treble last season by making impactful cameos off the bench. He netted six goals and provided five assists from 26 La Liga appearances.
Flick likes the versatility and the technical prowess that Fermin brings to this Barcelona roster.
Interested parties such as Bayern Munich and Liverpool have reportedly been alerted of Barcelona’s negotiation stance as they continue remain interested in the 22-year-old.
