Mexico and Honduras will play in the semifinals of the tournament, all from Santa Clara, California, on July 2.
Mexico, the favorites to win it all, are chasing back-to-back tournament victories. It would be the team’s first repeat since 2011 when it defeated the USA once again. Mexico certainly looks like the winner already, the only team advancing through the quarterfinals in regulation. It defeated Saudi Arabia 2-0 due to a goal by Alexis Vega as well as a Saudi own goal.
Honduras has some work to do, no doubt, but never say never. Honduras has been to the semifinals five times in the Gold Cup’s history, playing in the title match just once in 1991.

The squad will rely on emotions against Mexico. It defeated Panama in a thrilling quarterfinal match, emerging on top with a 5-4 penalty win.
