Bucks make $2.58 million contract offer to help replace injured Damian Lillard

The Milwaukee Bucks’ biggest 2025-26 question is at point guard.

With Damian Lillard set to miss most-or-all of the season with his torn Achilles, there’s uncertainty about how the Bucks will initiate their offense.

Ahead of free agency, Milwaukee took the first step toward trying to solve this: They extended a $2.58 million qualifying offer to restricted free agent Ryan Rollins, according to The Athletic’s Eric Nehm.

That means, if a team gives Rollins an offer sheet, the Bucks can match it.

They’ll likely do more than just this at the point guard spot, but it’s a start.

Rollins averaged 6.2 points and 1.9 assists per game in 14.6 minutes a night for Milwaukee in 2024-25. He shot 40.8% from 3-point land.

After playing his college basketball at the University of Toledo, Rollins was a second-round pick by the Hawks in 2022.

He spent his first NBA season with the Warriors, who had made a quick move to acquire him from Atlanta. Then he played for Washington before joining the Bucks.

Rollins hadn’t started a game in the NBA until his 19 starts in 2024-25 for the Bucks.

He’s used to the system and the players around him, which should allow Rollins to be a 15-20 minute per game player, at minimum, this season. There’s always a chance the Bucks give him the opportunity to spread his wings and be even more, too.
