Bayern Munich’s summer transfer window looks to be going from bad to worse with the Bundesliga champions missing out on several attacking targets in recent weeks.
Vincent Kompany’s first target was German international Florian Wirtz, who eventually selected Liverpool, after opting to leave arch rivals Bayer Leverkusen.
That was swiftly followed by a move for PSG’s Bradley Barcola, but the Frenchman decided against leaving Paris, to lave Kompany frustrated in the market once more.
Nico Williams is edging towards Barcelona instead of Bavaria and Kompnay could now make a last-ditch attempt to hijack Jamie Gittens’ move to Chelsea, as per Fabrizio Romano via his YouTube channel.
As per reports, club director Max Eberl contacted Borussia Dortmund bosses to flag up Bayern’s interest in the English winger, but it looks to be a little too late.
Gittens is reported to have already verbally agreed to a seven-year contract with the Blues ahead of the Club World Cup and he will not goa back on his call to head for Stamford Bridge.

Bayern Munich are rumoured to have offered a bigger salary than Enzo Maresca’s side but the 20-year-old wants to move back to England in 2025.
Chelsea and Dortmund worked together in the United States and reached an agreement in principle over the deal which should be ticked off by early July.
Gittens is all set to join Chelsea for £55m ($74.8m) and has already completed the main part of the medical, and the Blues are expected to make the move official soon.
Why did Gittens pick Chelsea over Bayern Munich?
Interestingly, Gittens had spent a brief period of his youth tam days at the Chelsea academy before featuring for teams like Reading, Manchester City and eventually Dortmund.
The 20-year-old has racked up plenty of experience playing for Dortmund’s senior team in the last three seasons.
However, last season was the most fruitful campaign for the English youngster. He scored 12 goals and provided three assists in 48 appearances.
Gittens is known for his dribbling, 1v1 take-ons and progressive carries on the left flank and his arrival at Chelsea will allow Maresca to be more flexible with his formation.
While he is not a finished article yet, he has massive potential, and should be an instant starter at Stamford Bridge – which played a key part in his decision to stick with Chelsea.
