Premier League legend lauds Manchester City target

Manchester City’s summer window remains open, and while Pep Guardiola has already moved fast with early signings, the door to further reinforcements is far from closed.

The additions of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Rayan Cherki have added depth, but Guardiola still sees a gap at right-back.

With Kyle Walker entering his final years, the Citizens need a clear successor and have identified one in Tino Livramento.

The 22-year-old has become a key figure at Newcastle United after making 45 appearances across all competitions.

His maturity, strength in duels, and calmness on the ball have made him one of the most admired young fullbacks in England.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Livramento is City’s number one target for the role.

Now, former England left-back Ashley Cole has also voiced his perspective on Livramento’s rise.

What Ashley Cole has to say about Tino Livramento?

Ashley Cole, the former Arsenal and Chelsea great who coached Livramento during his youth days at Cobham, has followed the player’s progress closely.

“You always see the passion and level he could get to,” Cole said in an interview with BBC Sport.

“I think getting the opportunity at Newcastle and continuing to play first-team football gave him belief. It gave him confidence in his own ability.”

“And of course, a manager that’s trusted him to play at such a young age.”

“It was a big challenge going to Newcastle, but he’s developing into a top player. I think he has a beautiful future, a bright future.”

The city’s interest in Livramento is part of a broader defensive refresh. With Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis currently rotating at right-back, Guardiola wants stability and experience in that role, and Livramento’s technical control, positional intelligence, and Premier League readiness tick every box.
