The Denver Broncos have landed on a list that they wouldn’t have had a chance to make at any point over the last handful of offseasons. Now, the Broncos are seen as ‘interesting’.
Coming off a 10-7 season that saw the Broncos reach the playoffs in year two under Sean Payton and year one with Bo Nix, the Broncos are being picked by many as the team that will finally topple the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West division.
That will be interesting to watch, but several other things will be as well, such as Nix’s progression in year two. Can he avoid the dreaded sophomore slump? What about the team’s free-agent acquisitions and top draft picks Jahdae Barron and RJ Harvey? How will they fit in with the team?
Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report ranked the eight most interesting teams in the NFL heading into the 2025 season, and the Broncos came in at No. 2 on his list.
“Are the Chiefs finally and truly at risk of being dethroned? If so, the Broncos could be the team to do it. And even if they fail, this ascending group has a very good chance at making major waves in 2025.
It starts with sophomore first-round pick Bo Nix, who posted a 126.0 passer rating in the final three games of his rookie season as Denver’s quarterback and should benefit from continuity following his first full offseason.
But this is also about the league’s third-ranked scoring defense from 2024—a unit that added high-potential corner Jahdae Barron in the first round of the draft and stole veterans Dre Greenlaw and Talanoa Hufanga from the 49ers.
This team very well could be ready to disrupt it all, and Sean Payton is a coach who has been there, done that. This might be real fun”, wrote Gagnon.
Only the Washington Commanders, who nearly reached the Super Bowl last year with a rookie quarterback, were deemed more interesting. The Broncos will play the Commanders in Week 13 on Sunday Night Football in one of the more intriguing games on the entire 2925 schedule.
The Broncos were plodding along for several years in the post-Peyton Manning era. They are clearly a team on the rise and one that is being noticed by fans and members of the media outside Broncos Country.
