The Dallas Cowboys have finally acquired another high-end receiver to pair with star CeeDee Lamb in George Pickens.
Dallas traded away a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick this offseason. Pickens, 24, has 2,841 career receiving yards and 12 touchdowns across the first three seasons of his career, topping the 1,000-yard mark once.
The mix of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields at quarterback is likely the best quarterback that Pickens has had the chance to play with in Pittsburgh, but now he will have the chance to play with three-time Pro Bowler Dak Prescott in Dallas.
Cowboys writer Kyle Youmans predicts that Pickens and Lamb will be the first Cowboys receiver duo to both reach the 1,000-yard mark this season, a feat that hasn’t been done in Dallas since 2019.
“The fact that George Pickens had the level of production that he posted in Pittsburgh, and never made a Pro Bowl, is shocking to me,” Youmans wrote. “Pickens can take a huge step in both during his contract year with the Cowboys in 2025.”

“He has yet to be paired with someone as talented on the other side of the formation as CeeDee Lamb, which could open a world of possibilities for Pickens. Assuming both players and Dak Prescott stay healthy throughout the season, it’s possible for Pickens and Lamb to become the first Cowboys pair of 1,000-yard receivers since 2019.”
Pickens was always the top receiver with the Steelers since he was drafted, but will now have an elite running mate in Lamb, a four-time Pro Bowler who’s gotten over 1,000 receiving yards in four straight seasons. After missing the playoffs for the first time in four years last season, the new-look Cowboys have their eyes set on a playoff return.
