76ers trade idea lands them Lakers sharpshooter

The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season, during which the team has a 25-57 record.

The 76ers came into the 2024-25 season with a lot of hype after signing Paul George to pair with All-Stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey; however, injuries would quickly derail their championship hopes.

With the No. 3 overall pick, the 76ers could use this offseason to add more around their star trio to make a push for a championship.

Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz suggested that the 76ers could make a splash by trading for Los Angeles Lakers sharpshooter Dalton Knecht.

“If the Sixers want to keep the No. 3 selection (probably the wise choice), they should be looking to add shooting to a core that ranked 27th in three-point accuracy this past season (34.1 percent), Swartz Wrote.

He added, “Johnson is a natural fit at power forward between Joel Embiid and Paul George, while Knecht has a bright future as a catch-and-shoot wing.”

Knecht is coming off a somewhat inconsistent rookie season in Los Angeles but still showed some flashes in 78 games for the Lakers, averaging 9.1 PPG and shooting 37.6% from beyond the arc.

He was briefly traded to the Charlotte Hornets for Mark Williams. However, the trade was rescinded after Williams suffered a severe physical injury.

Knecht would be a seamless fit for the 76ers. His ability to space the floor would make him a valuable addition right next to their big three. The 24-year-old is still on his rookie contract, offering the 76ers some financial flexibility.

A move for Knecht may not be the blockbuster trade that some fans are hoping for, but it’s a brilliant addition for a team that could still see itself as a top contender in the Eastern Conference.
