76ers sign 4 new players, including former No. 1 recruit

The Philadelphia 76ers just added a handful of new faces.

Most likely, they’re all heading to the G League.

On Monday night, the 76ers announced the signing of four new players:

  • Emoni Bates
  • Kennedy Chandler
  • Malcolm Hill
  • Jaylen Martin

According to beat reporter Keith Pompey, all four contracts are Exhibit 10 deals. That means that the players and team are incentivized to wind up as a G League partnership assuming no one makes the NBA roster.

Bates is the former No. 1 recruit who eventually bounced from Memphis to Eastern Michigan before being a second-round pick by the Cavs in 2023. He has appeared in 25 career NBA games through two seasons.

Chandler was a highly regarded recruit who went to Tennessee and was one-and-done. He went No. 38 overall to the Grizzlies in 2022 and has played 36 NBA games.

Hill played his college ball at Illinois and was undrafted in 2021. He has appeared in 24 NBA games.

Martin played in Overtime Elite instead of college, and he made his NBA debut in October. He has appeared in 16 NBA games.

They likely will all be depth pieces for the 76ers, but it’s nice to have guys on the G League roster who have played at the NBA level in case they need to be called upon in a pinch.
