The Philadelphia 76ers have had a failure of a season this year, and it might be time to move on from their aging superstars. Paul George is definitely at the top of the list, since he is definitely underperforming for how much he’s getting paid.
Bleacher Report’s Three Cone came up with multiple trades on NBA Daily to move George, and one of them was an interesting one; sending George down south to the Miami Heat. The trade would look like this:
76ers get: Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier
Heat get: Paul George, first-round pick
This would be an interesting trade for both sides. The Sixers can move off of George’s contract, and start rebuilding around their young stars. As for the Heat, they get a number one scoring option to replace Jimmy Butler, who left at the trade deadline.
Speaking of Butler, this would be the second time the Sixers traded a forward to Miami, with the first being Butler. This time however, they want to move George, and with Butler, he wanted to leave.
Even though George had a bad year this year, being the top scoring option might bring him back to his relative prime. He is 34 years old, so he technically is past his prime, but his playstyle still works as he gets older. Given the chance, he could revert to how he was on the Los Angeles Clippers.
Hopefully the Sixers consider this trade, and get on the phone with Miami to see if they would want to do it as well.
