The Philadelphia 76ers are beginning to look like the Eastern Conference contender they were expected to be entering the season.
This comes largely due to their Big Three of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George finally being healthy at the same time. Still, the star trio sustaining their time on the court together is no guarantee, which could lead the front office to seek additional star talent at February’s trade deadline.
The Sacramento Kings are in the midst of a chaos-filled season, recently firing coach Mike Brown. The move signifies the Kings are looking to get back on track and compete for a championship. However, if things continue trending in the wrong direction, one of their All-Stars could see a change of scenery much sooner than anticipated.
FanSided proposed the following deal between the Kings and Sixers, which would essentially show Sacramento is ready to begin a rebuild.
76ers receive: DeMar DeRozan, Keon Ellis, Alex Len
Kings receive: Kelly Oubre Jr., Caleb Martin, KJ Martin, Andre Drummond
Philadelphia would undoubtedly need to include draft capital for the Kings to accept a package highlighted by role players. While adding yet another All-Star is nice, the players involved in the deal are crucial to the Sixers’ success.
Oubre and the Martins play as the primary forwards alongside George while Drummond serves as the backup to Embiid. Losing all of these key contributors could put the team at even greater risk of failing if DeRozan doesn’t live up to his expectations at 35 years old.
