76ers predicted to make $12.5 million decision on breakout wing

Philadelphia has had a solid offseason thus far, but one more move could be the perfect cap to the summer.

The past year has been rather odd for the Philadelphia 76ers after effectively being crowned the winners of the 2024 offseason. Following the deal for Paul George last year, the 76ers have had roughly nothing go their way, particularly from the star side of things.

With George and Joel Embiid spending much of last season on the sidelines, the 76ers stumbled into the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. Missing the playoffs for the first time since 2017, the 76ers are looking to bounce back next season.

Keeping last season’s bright spot around for the future

Toward the end of last season, it was evident that the 76ers weren’t going to make the playoffs, but they still had one player ready to make a statement. After a deadline deal with the Dallas Mavericks, Quentin Grimes broke out for the 76ers, which was perfect timing for him ahead of his restricted free agency.

Although there are still some reasonable concerns about Grimes’ ability to maintain his level of production from the final weeks of last season, he could still land a solid payday in free agency. In a recent article from Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus, he predicted that Grimes would remain in Philadelphia, but not for his ideal price.

Considering the 76ers’ financial situation, Pincus predicted a short-term deal with the Sixers somewhere starting around $12.5 million per year or for Grimes to simply bet on himself and take the qualifying offer and trying his luck on the market again in 2026.
