The Philadelphia 76ers have had a disastrous season this year, and for the past couple, they’ve always come up short. A coaching change might be the first thing to do, and luckily for the Sixers, a new head coach is on the market.
According to Fansided’s Eamon Cassels, ex-Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins could be a top option to replace Nick Nurse. Jenkins was just let go today by the Grizzlies, making him a potential hire for a bunch of teams.
“The Philadelphia 76ers have emerged as the odds-on favorite for Jenkins’ next team,” Cassels wrote. “Amid a lackluster 23-50 season, Nick Nurse’s future with the team looks grim. Additionally, it’s unclear if the Sixers will look to give this core another shot or if they’ll enter a rebuild around Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, and a possible lottery pick. Jenkins is well-suited for either scenario; he’s both a proven development and win-now coach.”
Nurse has had a mediocre stint with the Sixers. Riding the high of two great seasons with the Toronto Raptors and getting a championship with them, it seemed like he would do the same for Philly.
However, that was not the case. In his almost two seasons with Philly thus far, Nurse has accrued a record of 70-85.
Jenkins on the other hand, has spent six seasons in Memphis, where he had a 250-214 record, and had the most coaching wins in franchise history. He made the playoffs three times, with a chance for four this season before he was let go.

Jenkins could be the answer for Philly, or at least one of them. They have many problems to fix, but hiring Jenkins could be a step in the right direction.
