The Philadelphia 76ers are on a roll. After beating the Boston Celtics in a crucial Christmas Day victory, the Sixers now stand at 11-17, putting them as the No. 11 seed in the Eastern Conference.
For now, the Sixers will likely see where things go from here. Now that they have most of their team healthy sans Jared McCain, they will get to see what they look like.
However, just because things are going well doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try to see if they can improve, particularly on the wing.
Even with the Sixers looking as good as they have lately, Paul George still isn’t exactly living up to his max contract. If he never regains his full form, FanSided proposed the following trade between the Sixers and Washington Wizards that would shore up Philadelphia’s wing depth.
Sixers receive: Kyle Kuzma, Anthony Gill
Wizards receive: Kelly Oubre Jr., Caleb Martin, KJ Martin
Note that the Wizards likely want some draft capital on top of what the Sixers would trade back for Kuzma.
Kuzma would make the Sixers harder to stop
This isn’t the first time Kuzma has been mentioned as a potential Sixers trade target, and for good reason.
Not only is he an above-average scoring wing, but he also has experience playing for a winner. In 2020, he helped the Los Angeles Lakers win their 17th title partly because he provided them with scoring and size.
The Wizards have made Kuzma available to acquire, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he’s on a new team before the NBA trade deadline passes.
What might motivate the Sixers to get him might not be so much that they need him as much as they need him to not play for a rival who could stand in their way in the playoffs.
