The Philadelphia 76ers could consider just about anyone as a possible trade target. Plenty would like a relatively big name like Kyle Kuzma, but a trade like that would require many moving parts, including salaries and draft capital.
When discussing potential Sixers trades, many mention KJ Martin’s team-friendly contract. However, they’ve been winning games since inserting Martin into the starting lineup, so trading him might not be the best idea. That doesn’t mean a trade wouldn’t be in order.
If the Sixers want to try bargain shopping Philly Sixers Galaxy proposed a trade between the Sixers and Sacramento Kings in which the following would happen.
Sixers receive: Keon Ellis
Kings receive: Eric Gordon, 2027 Sixers second-round pick, 2027 Bucks second-round pick, 2031 Mavericks second-round pick
Ellis is owed $2.1 million, which means the Sixers would save money in this trade. Ellis has established himself as a surprise 3&D guard and continues proving himself as a floor spacer, shooting nearly 41% from the arc.
The Kings’ current direction could impact Ellis’ availability
The Kings fired Mike Brown, who wasn’t playing Ellis much as he should have, which likely cratered his trade value. With Brown gone, Ellis’ minutes might change.
However, the Kings’ season is not going according to plan. Granted, neither did the Sixers at first, but at least they’re showing signs of life. Two months into the season, the Kings can’t say the same.
If things worsen for them, Ellis might be a realistic buy-low target for the Sixers. He gives them a two-way guard with some size. The Sixers have some talented guards on their roster, but they are all undersized.
The Sixers could be in the market for some trades, but more specifically, they need to make smart trades. If Ellis becomes available, trading for him would be a smart decision for the Sixers.
