The Philadelphia 76ers may have landed a future star in VJ Edgecombe with the No.3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Baylor product has already impressed so far in Summer League action, catching the attention of fans, analyst and some notable NBA stars.
While on his podcast, Podcast P with Paul George, 76ers star and teammate Paul George chimed in on Edgecombe having some high praise for the rookie.
“VJ showed flashes of stardom,” George said.
He added, “I thought he looked good. I thought he looked good on both ends of the floor. It’s dope to see the difference between college and the NBA with spacing because he was able to get to his middy, he was able to get to his space on the floor, he was spacing behind the 3-point line, he was attacking in transition, like, there’s so much space for guys when you cross over from college to the NBA. I thought he put it all on display and showed flashes of stardom. I love the poise and patience in the pick-and-roll. That’s not something that comes natural, especially, for young guys that aren’t point guards.”
Edgecombe showed flashes of excellence dropping 28 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks on 48% shooting from the field in the 76ers matchup against Ace Bailey and the Utah Jazz in his Summer League debut.
He is currently recovering from a thumb sprain, which forced him out of the 76ers matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.
With his level of talent it’s clear the 76ers got a gem and Paul George seems to be onboard with him.
