Heading into the offseason, the Philadelphia 76ers have some significant decisions to make about their roster. One pressing question is whether they’ll be able to retain forward Guerschon Yabusele. The former EuroLeague champion pick will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
During an interview with HoopHype, Yabusele asked about his future in Philadelphia ahead of the 2025 NBA offseason.
“We will see those options also with the upcoming summer when we’re going to know a little bit what’s going on. I know the Sixers are going to look to change some pieces in the roster, so you have to wait also to see what’s gonna happen, but the draft’s gonna set everything pretty much for every team to know where they’re going with the trades and stuff like that. I guess we’ll see soon but I’m pretty excited,” Yabusele said. It’s going to be my first time really enjoying free agency, especially in the NBA. I’m pretty excited just to hear the offers, to see what’s going on, to see the movement.”
Yabulsele signed with the 76ers last offseason after a string of strong showings during the 2024 Paris Olympics. He emerged as a valuable contributor under Nick Nurse throughout the 2024-25 season, particularly during stretches when key stars such as Joel Embiid and Paul George were sidelined due to injury.
He averaged 11.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, raising his stock throughout the season. It remains to be seen if Yabusele will stay with the 76ers. Daryl Morey reportedly expressed interest in retaining him, and Yabusele made it clear that he wants to remain in the NBA.
“Oh, no, 100 percent. I made it clear. I really, really want to stay in the NBA; now that I have a real reason over there, I want to do some more. Watching the playoffs, you watch those guys having fun, you always look, I want to be there. My competitor side is really pushing me to work hard this summer, try to get everything that I can to come back next season and crush it even more.
For now, the 76ers will weigh their options to field a contender around their big three.
