76ers forward ranked among top NBA wings despite injury-plagued season

Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George’s first season in the City of Brotherly Love didn’t go as he had hoped.

The nine-time All-Star and podcast host spent most of the year sidelined due to nagging knee injuires, appearing in only 41 games. His production dipped compared to previous seasons.

Still, George’s reputation around the league remains strong. The Athletics Zach Harper ranked George the sixth-best wing player in the league heading into the 2025-26 season, placing him in Tier 2.

Even in a down season, George remained one of the more effective players last season, averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.8 steals on 43% shooting from the field. He is still regarded as one of the most dynamic players at his position, even in a league with top names like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Kawhi Leonard, who continue to perform at a high level.

George is currently still recovering from an arthroscopic procedure. The 76ers are hoping he can return to a near all-star level. He joined the 76ers last offseason, signing a four-year $211 million contract. However, his first season with the organization was a massive disappointment.

Last season was a down year for the 76ers, who finished with a 25-57 record, missing the playoffs entirely. Joel Embiid also missed most of the year due to injury, leaving the 76ers without their most prominent stars for long stretches.

It’s clear that a healthy 76ers team has the potential to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
