The San Francisco 49ers are giving everyone a shot to earn a wide receiver spot on their roster.
Injuries to incumbents, led by Brandon Aiyuk, have led to a flurry of comings and goings at the WR position so far in training camp.
The latest swap came Sunday, reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter: The 49ers have cut Marquez Callaway and signed Robbie Chosen.
Chosen is the speedy wideout who entered the NFL as an undrafted player out of Temple who was then known as either Robby or Robbie Anderson.
He debuted with the New York Jets in 2016. He has played nine seasons in the NFL, also including time with the Panthers, Cardinals and Dolphins.

Chosen spent the past two seasons with Miami. He played nine games (four catches) in 2023 and just two games in 2024 with a single catch for five yards.
In his career, Chosen has played 122 games, caught 380 passes, totaled 5,087 yards and received 30 touchdowns.
He’ll be a long shot to make the 49ers’ roster at age 32, but he’s worth a chance. There’s no harm in bringing in a guy to training camp and seeing if he still has a little juice left.

Chosen is listed at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, tall and skinny, and still quite fast.
San Francisco needs to maximize Brock Purdy’s weapons in the early going with Aiyuk likely missing the start of the season.
Chosen, or someone like him, could prove crucial if the 49ers are indeed going to put together a bounceback season in 2025.
