The San Francisco 49ers had a disappointing 2024 season, finishing last in the division at 6-11 after three straight years of making it to the conference championship or Super Bowl.
Injuries plagued the 49ers during the 2024 season, with many key players missing significant time. One such player included was wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who only appeared in seven games. The offense suffered without Aiyuk, who plays a major role in the offense.
While injured, rumors went around that the 49ers were going to part ways with Aiyuk and trade him. Aiyuk personally wrote on his YouTube channel, ripping into the rumors that he was going to get traded while seriously injured.
“They was talking bout trading me while I was off percocets /muscle relaxers and peeing in a cup by my bed! Couldn’t walk for 10 weeks ain’t nobody trading for me,” Aiyuk wrote.
Before the 2024 season which he was injured, Aiyuk had two straight seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards and at least seven touchdowns, reaching 1,342 receiving yards in 2023. Aiyuk had never had a season with fewer than five receiving touchdowns before this past season, and has been a key piece to the 49ers’ offense.

After tearing his ACL and MCL in his right knee, it’s no wonder Aiyuk would be frustrated hearing his name involved in trade rumors. The 27-year-old wide receiver is on a four-year, $120 million contract through 2028, according to Spotrac, and while injured, surely would not have brought back the type of return the team would want for a player of his caliber.
