This years 2025 Hockey Hall of Fame class has been announced today. The loaded group includes players Duncan Keith, Zdeno Chara, Joe Thornton, Alex Mogilny, Brianna Decker and Jennifer Botterill. The builders include Jack Parker and Danielle Sauvageau.
No surprise seeing Duncan Keith is a first ballot hall of famer having been an integral part of the 2010s Hawks core. The 3 time Stanley Cup Champion won 2 Norris trophies (2010, 2014) and is arguably the greatest defenseman in the history of the Blackhawks franchise.
Zdeno Chara, along with Keith, was one of the best defenseman of his era. The 6’9” dman was a pain to play against with his size and long reach. He won the Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins in 2011 as well as taking home a Norris trophy in 2009.
Joe Thornton is one of the best players of all time to never win a Stanley Cup. With that said, he recorded over 1,500 points in his lengthy NHL career. This includes a dominant Hart Trophy winning season in 2006, in which he was traded mid season from the Bruins to the Sharks.
Alexander Mogilny’s hall of fame induction has been long overdue. The 90’s Russian sensation recorded over 1,000 points in his NHL career. The 2000 Stanley Cup champ with the Devils also won the Lady Byng trophy in 2003.
Both Brianna Decker and Jennifer Botterill are among the most influential women to play the game of hockey. The impacts of builders Jack Parker and Danielle Sauvageau can’t be measured as well.
Overall, this was one of the more loaded classes in recency. It will be fun to see who is next in line to the hall in 2026.
