Kyle Clifford has recently announced his retirement from the game of hockey via “Mayor’s Manor.”
The 13 year NHL veteran won 2 Stanley Cups in his career during his long stint with the LA Kings in 2012 and 2014. He spent a decade with the franchise that drafted him in 2009 where he made his biggest mark in the league.
After his tenure in LA, Clifford had multiple stints with the Toronto Maple Leafs and a stop in St. Louis with the Blues. He most recently played with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies during the 24-25 season having not played in the NHL since the 22-23 season.
Over the course of his 753 game NHL career, Clifford amassed 66 goals and 78 assists for 144 points as a chippy bottom 6 forward. In 65 career postseason games, Clifford scored 4 goals and added 12 assists for 16 points.
Clifford’s most notable performance came during the Kings second cup run where he proved to be an adept secondary scoring threat with a goal and 6 assists in 24 games during that run.
Kyle will be remembered as a player that was always beloved in the locker room by his teammates. He was one of those glue guys every team needs in the trenches come playoff time.
The 34 year old Ontario native already has his next career plans set as he has accepted a position with his most recent NHL team the Toronto Maple Leafs organization in a player development role with the club.
