Where to watch Tottenham vs Man City live stream, TV channel, lineups, prediction for FA Cup match

It’s arguably the standout tie of the FA Cup’s fourth round, and if recent history tells us anything about fixtures between these two sides, you can bet your top dollar that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City will be giving us plenty of fireworks when they contend for a place in the last 16 on Friday, January 26.

Their six-goal thriller in the Premier League earlier this season gives some indication as to how games involving the pair usually go, with Spurs coming from behind on three separate occasions to secure a 3-3 draw — Dejan Kulusevski’s 90th minute strike being the third and final equaliser which rescued a point at the Etihad Stadium.

City’s last FA Cup-related trip to the capital was a memorable one for Pep Guardiola’s side, taking the lead just 13 seconds into the 2023 decider against bitter rivals Manchester United at Wembley. Ilkay Gundogan’s volley almost straight from kick-off broke all kinds of records, and he slotted home another goal early in the second half to win it.

That 2-1 victory sealed City’s seventh FA Cup title and came hot on the heels of their Premier League victory just a few days earlier, before completing an historic treble with victory over Inter in the Champions League final.

This season has seen new challenges thrown at the champions though — particularly in the league — and Spurs will know from their 3-3 draw in December that if they can match City across the park, they’re well within a shout of dumping the FA Cup holders out in the fourth round.

Tottenham vs Man City lineups, team news

Much like their match against City at the Etihad Stadium, Spurs also came from behind twice against Manchester United to come away from Old Trafford with a 2-2 draw. Richarlison and recent loan singing Timo Werner both got on the scoresheet for Ange Postecoglu’s side, and they’ll likely be joined in the front three by Brennan Johnson.

Cristian Romero looks set to retain the captaincy in central defence, and will be flanked by Pedro Porro, who scored the only goal of the game as Spurs beat Burnley in the third round, at right-back.

Tottenham (4-3-3, right to left): Vicario (GK) — Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie — Skipp, Bentancur, Hojbjerg — Johnson, Richarlison, Werner.

Tottenham subs (9): TBC

The goals flew in from all angles as Manchester City thumped Huddersfield 5-0 in the third round, with Phil Foden getting a brace and fellow forwards Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku also finding the back of the net. All three are expected to start alongside Bernardo Silva in City’s front four.

The game will come too early for the injured Erling Haaland, but with Alvarez and Oscar Bobb — the match-winner at Newcastle in the Premier League last time out — leading the line in his stead, and Kevin de Bruyne making a goalscoring return from injury in the same game, City are well resourced in attacking firepower at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Man City (4-2-3-1 right to left): Emerson (GK) — Walker, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol — Rodri, Kovacic — Foden, Silva, Doku — Alvarez.

Tottenham vs Man City prediction

Given the free-scoring and frantic history between these two sides in recent years, predicting an outcome for this game — yet alone a specific scoreline — is far from the easiest of tasks!

Spurs’ never-say-die attitude won them a point at the Etihad earlier in the season and their recent 2-2 draw at Old Trafford shows that spirit is still the beating heart of this team, while home advantage in this match could well give them the edge.

However, City have recovered from a pre-Christmas slump to go five games unbeaten in the league, four of which have been victories. Factoring in their performances across these games, and coming off the back of a FIFA World Club Cup victory in Saudi Arabia, the Cityzens are well placed to continue their FA Cup title defence and notch a first-ever win at Spurs’ new stadium in this competition.

Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Manchester City.
