When is Tottenham vs. Man City? Date, time of Spurs’ home Premier League game postponed for FA Cup semifinals

The fixture list is rapidly piling up for Manchester City, as they bid to defend the treble of trophies they won last season.

Pep Guardiola’s team entered the March international break just a point behind Premier League leaders Arsenal with 10 games to go. They face the Gunners in a potentially critical match-up on March 31.

They also have the FA Cup semifinals and UEFA Champions League quarterfinals on the horizon next month, with Chelsea and Real Madrid hoping to derail City’s bid for a treble repeat — something never before seen in modern European football.

That means certain league fixtures are having to be moved around the schedule. City had been due to head to Champions League hopefuls Tottenham over the weekend of April 20-21, but that game has been postponed.

The Sporting News has the latest on a possible new date for that fixture and why it had to be called off in the first place.

When is Tottenham vs Man City? Date, time of Premier League game

Tottenham’s game at home to Man City was scheduled for the weekend of April 20-21, 2024. However, the fixture has now been postponed due to a clash with FA Cup matches over the same two days.

The Premier League has not yet announced a new date and time for the game.

With City competing in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League, there are not many options available, particularly since they already have a postponed match against Brighton & Hove Albion that is yet to be rescheduled.

The week beginning April 22 is a possible option for one of these postponed matches, as City do not currently have any midweek games scheduled. There is also the prospect of a midweek game in the week commencing May 6, but that would become impractical if City reach the semifinals of the Champions League. In that scenario, they would likely have to play Spurs in the week beginning May 13, before the Premier League’s final round of matches on May 19.

Why was Tottenham vs. Man City postponed?

This game had to be moved after Manchester City reached the semifinals of the 2023/24 FA Cup.

The holders defeated Newcastle United 2-0 in the quarterfinals thanks to two deflected shots from Bernardo Silva. They will face Chelsea in the semifinals at Wembley Stadium, Mauricio Pochettino’s men having battled past Championship promotion hopefuls Leicester City.

City actually beat Spurs 1-0 in north London earlier in the FA Cup, with Nathan Ake scoring the late winner. It ended a dreadful run of results for Pep Guardiola and his team at Spurs’ home ground.
