USA vs Jamaica prediction, odds, soccer betting tips and USMNT best bets for CONCACAF Nations League semifinal

Enjoying the fittest squad he’s had in years, Gregg Berhalter steers the USMNT into the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals against Jamaica on Thursday, hoping to secure a potential meeting with Mexico in the final four days later.

Tyler Adams is back with the squad for the first time since the World Cup, while Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie are in exceptional club form. Even fringe players like Johnny Cardoso, Brenden Aaronson, and Haji Wright have enjoyed good recent moments and will be ready to put forth a positive effort.

Jamaica, meanwhile, cannot say the same of themselves. Leon Bailey is suspended for a disciplinary issue, Demarai Gray is out with a red card suspension, and both Michail Antonio and Ethan Pinnock are injured. Down three key players, the Reggae Boyz will need others to rise to the occasion if they are to produce an upset similar to their defeat of Canada in the quarterfinals last fall.

With this international break representing the final opportunity to secure competitive minutes before the summer’s Copa America, the results of their next two matches will be of paramount importance. Individual and collective performances are always key to note, but the U.S. players, coaches, and fans will need to remember that this summer, it doesn’t matter how the team secures a result, only that it does or does not. The time is now to put that mindset into practice.

USA vs Jamaica prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: United States (-275)
  • Score prediction: USA 2-0 Jamaica

Jamaica has done well in the past to frustrate the United States, and they will have to lean on that defensive strategy again here as they boast a squad without most of their attacking stars. The absence of Leon Bailey will be a considerable loss, as he is in exceptional form at Aston Villa, and Demarai Gray’s suspension will loom large as well.

The U.S. could get bogged down in a defensive battle, but they are healthy and in form. Christian Pulisic comes into this match having scored in four straight matches for AC Milan, and he should lead the charge alongside a first-choice group.

USA vs Jamaica best bet

  • Pick: USA to win to nil
  • Odds: +100 (BetMGM)

Everything coming into this match points towards not only a U.S. victory, but a commanding one as well. The USMNT is fully fit, while Jamaica are without multiple key players in both phases of the game.

The healthy and in-form U.S. attackers can break down a Jamaica back line missing a pair of key players in Ethan Pinnock and Amari’i Bell, while the lack of first-choice attacking options leaves the Reggae Boyz very reliant on Bobby De Cordova-Reid for both creativity and finishing. Yet De Cordova-Reid has lost his starting spot at Fulham recently and has just six goals in his international career across 27 matches.

Additionally, if Jamaica are chasing the game late, pressing wizard Tyler Adams may see the field off the bench for the final stages, leading to a boost for the U.S. defensively as they hope to protect the clean sheet. While understanding that fluky things happen across the 90 minutes and goals can be found in the oddest moments, there’s all the reason to think the U.S. can not only come away with the victory, but tack a clean sheet on as well.

USA vs Jamaica prop bet

  • Pick: Christian Pulisic anytime goal scorer
  • Odds: +188 (BetMGM)

There is no player in CONCACAF who is enjoying better club form than Christian Pulisic. Despite playing in a Stefano Pioli tactical setup which emphasizes positional rigidity and often subbed off after an hour, Pulisic has managed to rack up an impressive 20 goal contributions this season at AC Milan.

His seasonal form is impressive, but it’s his recent streak which has the temperature gauge pegged. For the first time in his entire club career, Pulisic has scored a goal in four consecutive games, something he’d never even done in three straight matches before this run.

Pulisic’s form with the national team is just as bright, having found the net in four of his last six appearances for five total goals. He bagged a brace against Jamaica in the 2019 Gold Cup, so there’s precedent for today’s opponent as well. Unlike at AC Milan, it’s very possible that Pulisic sees a full 90 minutes in this game, especially if the result hangs in the balance late, so the U.S. talisman will have plenty of time to work his magic.
