English Premier League table 2022/23: Updated EPL standings and race for title, Champions League places, and relegation survival

Now that Arsenal’s game in hand has been played, their battle with Manchester City should become even more compelling.

Arsenal extended their lead to five points by edging Bournemouth after City won their game at home to Newcastle.

Manchester United look unlikely to challenge after being embarrassed 7-0 at Liverpool, leaving the Carabao Cup winners nine points adrift of City.

The scrap for fourth place continues to be a fierce one after both the Magpies and Tottenham lost. Brighton took full advantage with a 4-0 win at home to West Ham, while Fulham could also make up some ground on Monday in the chase for the final Champions League berth that comes with fourth place.

At the other end of the table, there are only six points separating the bottom nine clubs, as things grow increasingly desperate for the likes of Leeds, Bournemouth, West Ham and Leicester City, who all dropped points in their most recent results.

Southampton showed life with a big home win that lifted them out of the cellar, but Everton threw away points in a draw with Nottingham Forest.

Below is the full Premier League table followed by a snapshot of each race.

Premier League title race

Arsenal remain in a strong position with 12 games of the Premier League season remaining, although they still have to play City, Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea.

City will be eagerly anticipating their game against the Gunners at Etihad Stadium on April 26, while United are closer to sixth than second after their unexpected thrashing at Anfield.

Champions League places, European places

The top four in the table automatically qualify to next season’s Champions League group stage. Fifth place, along with the FA Cup winner, qualify directly to the Europa League group stage

With Manchester United winning the Carabao Cup and also on track to finish in the top four, that means the Conference League qualifying spot that is awarded the Carabao winners will be passed on to the 6th-place team in the Premier League table (for now).

If Man City or Man United win the FA Cup, then the Europa League group stage spot that comes with that trophy would go to 6th place, while the Conference League qualifying spot gets bumped down to the 7th place team.

Premier League relegation

Good luck trying to project who will finish in the bottom three and suffer relegation to the second-tier of English football.

With nine clubs within six points, that’s as tight as things can be with about 13 games remaining for every team. There’s still a lot that can happen, and with the likes of West Ham, Leicester City, Leeds, and Everton in the relegation mix, there are sure to be some dramatic twists.

The Nottingham Forest vs. Everton match on Sunday could have provided either side a much-needed boost, but neither changed table position after a 2-2 draw.
