The Boston Red Sox have been looking good recently, making a strong push for the playoffs while sitting in the top wildcard slot. However, there are a couple of issues they need to address to make sure they are good for the playoffs.
One of those is deciding on which of their prospects that are knocking on the door to come up to the big leagues. Boston Herald’s Mac Cerullo predicts it will be The Password, Jhonsyxton Garcia, the Sox’s No. 3 overall prospect.

“Garcia, meanwhile, has been a monster since he was promoted to the WooSox from Double-A. In his first 62 games since the call-up, he batted .300 with 17 home runs, 50 RBI and a .941 OPS, and over the same 23-game span since the All-Star break he’s batted .312 with eight homers, 24 RBI and a .999 OPS,” Cerullo wrote.
This would be an odd move, as a certain former prospect could be a better fit: Kristian Campbell.

“Campbell took a little while to get going after his demotion, but in his first 23 games out of the All-Star break he batted .349 with five home runs, 15 RBI and a .998 OPS. He’s also started 14 of those games at first base, more than any other player on the WooSox over that stretch,” Cerullo noted.
However, Cerullo doesn’t think that’s the case, as in interviews he had with Sox manager Alex Cora, Cora has been pretty indifferent about Campbell’s success. Campbell started strong with the Red Sox at the beginning of the season, but he had an astronomical slump, leading to his demotion.
Hopefully the Sox figure out if anyone is getting promoted soon, as the playoffs are starting to loom.
