What channel is Brandon Figueroa vs. Mark Magsayo on tonight? How to watch 2023 boxing fight

We’re building up nicely to the crossroads clash between former world champions Brandon Figueroa and Mark Magsayo, who lock horns in a 12-round clash for the interim WBC featherweight title on March 4. The bout, plus undercard action, will be broadcast by Showtime in the U.S. and FiteTV in the U.K.

Figueroa (23-1-1, 18 KOs) surrendered WBC and WBO super-bantamweight titles to the unbeaten Stephen Fulton via majority decision in November 2021. The Texan star is eager for a rematch, but that sequel is sure to take place at featherweight.

However, before Fulton vs. Figueroa 2 can happen, the 26-year-old pressure fighter must contend with Magsayo, who is highly respected within the trade.

“He’s a good fighter and not to be overlooked,” Figueroa told The Sporting News. “He’s dangerous at 126; he trains hard and his hard work [pays off]. I just have to train harder than him and be on my A-game. I’ve got to be sharp on Saturday and make sure that he doesn’t catch me with any of his power shots.

“The game plan is to box him a little bit and see how he reacts to my boxing ability. If that’s working, then I’ll continue to box. If I’m more effective on the inside, then I’ve got to get on the inside. But Magsayo is a quick, explosive fighter, and not only that, he carries his power into the later rounds.”

Magsayo, 27, is the former WBC featherweight champion. The gutsy Filipino dethroned then-champion Gary Russell Jr. in January 2022, but lost the title to Mexico’s Rey Vargas in his maiden defense.

“I won a big fight, I lost a big fight,” Magsayo (24-1, 16 KOs) told Boxing Junkie. “Now I have a big opportunity again. It’s an honor to fight for [an interim] world championship again against Figueroa. This is a great fight.”

“I’m hungrier now. I’m coming off a loss. I need to come back stronger to prove to them that I’m an elite fighter, that I’m still a champ. I will get that belt again.”

The winner of this bout positions themselves for a world title bout against the aforementioned Vargas. It’s a long way back for the loser.
