Tim Tszyu vs. Tony Harrison date start time, odds, schedule & card for 2023 boxing fight

In his backyard in Australia, Tim Tszyu must overcome a dangerous test before he can rebook an undisputed super-welterweight title fight against Jermell Charlo. On March 11, Tszyu will face Tony Harrison for the interim WBO super-welterweight title at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

Tszyu and Charlo were supposed to clash on January 28, but the latter sustained a serious hand injury and the bout was postponed. The challenger now fights to stay active although “Super Bad” Harrison is a quality opponent and a former super-welterweight champion.

“Tim Tszyu and Tony Harrison have both sought out the biggest challenges in the stacked 154-pound division, and that continues on March 11 live on SHOWTIME from Australia,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “Wildly popular in his home country, Tszyu will have the home crowd edge, but this is precisely the kind of challenge that brings out the best in a fighter like Harrison. The 154-pound division has delivered classic fight after classic fight, and March 11, certainly shapes up to be the next chapter in that story.”

The son of former champion Kostya Tszyu, Tim turned pro in 2016. A multi-time local champion in Australia, Tszyu has beaten the likes of Jeff Horn and Dennis Hogan. In his most recent fight, last March, Tszyu handled Terrell Gausha via unanimous decision.

Previously training for undisputed gold, Tszyu is ready for any challenge in his way. While not what he prepared for, a new foe will not distract him from the potential path ahead of him.

“I can’t underestimate Tony Harrison, but with the way I’ve been training, I’m extremely confident that I’m going to give my fans a big KO victory,” said Tszyu. “Full credit to him for taking the challenge and coming to Australia, but he’s going home empty-handed. It’s exciting that my fans in the U.S. will be able to watch this matchup on SHOWTIME and I hope they’re ready to see a great atmosphere and a thrilling fight.”

The 32-year-old Harrison turned pro in 2011. In his 30th pro fight, Harrison beat Charlo for the WBC title. He lost it against Charlo in a direct rematch. Since then, he has gone 1-0-1, last fighting (and beating) Sergio Garcia in April 2022. Looking for redemption, Harrison is ready to make the most of this opportunity.

“I’m here on a mission,” said Harrison. “My only focus is on Tim Tszyu. I’m extremely confident in my abilities and in my training, but I know Tim is going to be tough competition. I can’t wait to see the crowd all out there to support him, because I’m going to give them no choice but to love me too. I hope he’s ready for 12 grueling rounds because I’m ready to go as long as he can last.”
