NBA insider reveals fantastic news regarding Timberwolves’ chances of landing Kevin Durant

The way this season has gone for the Minnesota Timberwolves could make for an interesting offseason. Although they’ve turned the year around, there may still be one missing piece.

Luckily for Minnesota, that missing piece could be available this offseason.

Shams Charania of ESPN made a guest appearance on the Pat McAfee Show and released some exciting news for the Timberwolves fanbase. Some news that could provide Minnesota with some extra firepower for next season.

“Kevin Durant could definitely be traded this offseason.. It just hasn’t worked out for this Suns team.. There was mutual interest at the trade deadline with Golden State, Minnesota, New York, Houston, Miami, and San Antonio,” Charania said.

Since the Phoenix Suns superstar remains one of the most prolific scorers in the NBA, a plethora of teams will likely be interested in acquiring him. The fantastic news is if Durant had interest in joining Minnesota in February, a similar level will remain in the summer.

What makes Minnesota such an attractive landing spot for the 15-time NBA All-Star is his relationship with guard Anthony Edwards. Durant is a player that Edwards has looked up to ever since he stepped foot in the league. If he has any say in where he is traded to, it’s hard to imagine him not mentioning the Timberwolves.

After a disappointing start to this season, Minnesota has shown signs of returning to last season’s form. For a team to reach the Conference Finals last season, this year hasn’t quite reached those expectations. As other teams in the league get better, it feels like the Timberwolves are still one scorer away.

A wing scorer for Edwards to dish out to in traffic attacking the basket is a perfect addition to what Minnesota needs to take the next step. Perhaps, the Suns and Timberwolves will revisit talks this offseason because the interest level is there on both sides.
