One Dallas Maverick is getting a reunion with former Mavs superstar Luka Doncic.
Well, one Mavericks personnel, that is.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Los Angeles Lakers have hired Jeremy Holsopple as their head strength and conditioning coach, this coming after an over-decade tenure with the Mavericks, including when Doncic was on the team.
It’s clear now that the Lakers are fully set on building their long-term success around the Slovenian superstar and will do whatever they can to make him comfortable in the City of Angels.
The signing of his former strength and conditioning coach comes as a rather ironic hiring, given the fact that Doncic’s conditioning and diet (or lack thereof) is what got him traded to the Lakers in the first place.
And after missing a large portion of the 2024-25 season with a calf injury, Doncic is now fully prepared to lead the Lakers to their record-tying 18th NBA title, especially after signing a three-year, $165 million extension with the team earlier this month.
After the blockbuster trade that went down in February, Doncic averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists for the Lakers this past season, including 30.2 points and seven rebounds in the playoffs, which saw the Lakers get bounced by the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games.
