Man City ready to offer star midfielder to sign Serie A defender

Manchester City are reportedly prepared to include young talent Claudio Echeverri in a deal to sign Lazio defender Mario Gila.

The Premier League champions are looking to strengthen their backline and see the 24-year-old Spanish center-back as a strong option.

Pep Guardiola’s side has been keeping tabs on Gila, who has impressed at Lazio this season.

The former Real Madrid academy player has played a key role in Lazio’s defense and is now attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Clubs in competition for Man City target Mario Gila

Man City faces stiff competition from teams like Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid.

City, however, might have an edge in the race. Reports (via Calciomercato) suggest they are considering using Echeverri as a bargaining chip.

The 19-year-old Argentine midfielder, who was signed from River Plate, is yet to make his debut for City. Although he is highly rated, the club may be willing to let him go on loan to sweeten the deal for Gila.

Lazio, in need of financial flexibility, could be open to the proposal. They value Gila at around €50 million (£41.6 million) and might be willing to negotiate if they receive a promising young talent in return.

Echeverri’s future remains uncertain, but a temporary switch to Italy could give him valuable first-team experience.

Gila’s potential move to City would bolster their defense for the upcoming season. His ability to play out from the back and his tactical awareness make him a great fit for Guardiola’s system.

While Lazio would prefer to keep him, financial constraints might force them to consider offers.

For now, City’s next step depends on whether Lazio are interested in bringing in Echeverri as part of the deal. If the talks progress, the Premier League giants could soon have a new defensive reinforcement.
