Has Neymar ever won the World Cup with Brazil? List of trophies won, titles, and goals with national team

Neymar has undoubtedly been Brazil’s best player over the past decade.

Playing for global superpowers of club football Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, he has won countless league and cup titles, as well as the UEFA Champions League.

He has also captained his country and represented the Selecao over 100 times, but has he ever won the FIFA World Cup?

The Sporting News looks at Neymar’s World Cup record, and his achievements for Brazil, who are the most successful team in the history of the esteemed FIFA tournament.

Has Neymar won the World Cup?

Despite being the star man within a being a powerhouse of world international football, Neymar has not won a World Cup yet in his career.

After the Selecao were dumped out of the Qatar tournament by Croatia on penalties in the 2022 quarterfinals, he will not have another chance to do so until the 2026 competition joint-hosted by USA, Canada, and Mexico.

He was part of the Brazil squad that reached the semifinals at their home World Cup in 2014, but injury infamously ruled him out of that game, which resulted in a 7-1 humiliation against Germany in one of the most remarkable World Cup moments in history.

In fact, the current run of five World Cup tournaments without a title is Brazil’s longest-ever run, making Neymar’s international career one of unprecedented disappointment for the Selecao. Brazil have won five World Cup titles in their history, more than any other country around the world, but their last came back in 2002.

Since then, Brazil have been eliminated in the quarterfinals in four of the last five tournaments alongside the 2014 semifinal exit.

Edition Games Goals Stage
2014 5 4 Semifinals
(finished 4th)
2018 5 2 Quarterfinals
2022 3 2 Quarterfinals

Neymar trophies won with Brazil

Amazingly, despite his distinguished career, Neymar has only won one trophy with the Brazil senior team, being the 2013 Confederations Cup.

He was part of the squad that finished runners-up in the 2021 Copa America to Argentina, and has also won an Olympic gold medal in football, though this was with the Under-23’s side.

Neymar Brazil goals record

Neymar has now scored 79 goals for his country, which ranks second on the all-time scorers list.

He has also scored eight goals in 12 matches played at World Cups – the latest of which was the incredible solo goal in the quarterfinal against Croatia, which went all the way to penalties.

He has now eclipsed the overall Brazil goal record which was previously held by the legendary Pele.

Given his record of scoring goals and being an important player for his country in the World Cup, there is a strong chance that Neymar could re-emerge at the 2026 competition, as injuries have plagued his last few years.

Is 2026 Neymar’s last World Cup?

Neymar participated in his third World Cup in Qatar, and while he’s expected to appear in a fourth come 2026, he still has a road ahead to prove he is a viable option for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Set to turn 34 before the 2026 World Cup commences, it’s believed a near-certainty that 2026 will be Neymar’s last chance at international glory.

The Brazil star has struggled with injuries over the last number of years, with ankle problems giving way to a run of knee issues.

As one of the most fouled players in the world during his prime years, the repeated physical punishment took a toll, leading to a run of ankle injuries which stunted his final years at Paris Saint-Germain. Those gave way to persistent knee problems when he tore his ACL in October of 2023, the first year of his contract at Saudi side Al Hilal. Since joining Brazilian club Santos in early 2025, he has been beset by repeated hamstring concerns.

Even before all that, Neymar hinted at the start of the 2022 World Cup that it could be his last FIFA tournament, telling Globo: “I can’t guarantee that I’ll play another [World] Cup. I honestly don’t know.” So it’s hard to believe he would be a realistic option come 2030.

But, given that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are considered likely to appear in their sixth World Cup tournament at ages 38 and 41 respectively, it’s impossible to completely rule out Neymar’s presence down the road.
