Phillies’ Bryce Harper just did a gender reveal during the middle of his at bat

Bryce Harper took a different bat to the plate in the first inning on Monday night.

The lumber had a very specific purpose: It was going to serve as the gender reveal for he and his wife Kayla’s fourth baby.

The bat was blue. It’s a boy!

Harper didn’t put the blue bat to great use, though, striking out swinging to start a 1-for-5 day in a Philadelphia Phillies loss to the San Francisco Giants.

According to the broadcast team, it was Phillies teammate Trea Turner who coordinated to get the blue bat ordered for Harper.

Bryce and Kayla already have three children.

The oldest and only son so far is Krew Aron Harper, who is 5 years old.

Brooklyn Elizabeth Harper is 4.

Kamryn Ray Harper celebrates her first birthday this month.

And now there’s a second boy coming to balance things out in the Harper household.

This joins Lakers basketball star Austin Reaves using his shoe color as a gender reveal earlier this season.

It’s probably not the last time we’ll see a standout athlete pick a cool way to let the world know a child is on the way.
