The Oklahoma City Thunder (22-1) are looking like they will be giving a list of players a rest as they travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz (8-14) on Sunday.
Thunder insider Clemente Almanza revealed that there are nine players on Oklahoma City’s injury report for the weekend contest.
A lot of the players listed were also players who didn’t play in Friday’s win over the Dallas Mavericks. However, one new addition to the report is franchise superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Lu Dort, and Isaiah Hartenstein are among seven listed as OUT on Sunday vs. Jazz
The Thunder are going to be without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (elbow bursitis), Lu Dort (adductor strain). Isaiah Hartenstein (soleus strain), Alex Caruso (quad contusion), and Isaiah Joe (knee soreness) for Sunday’s game.
Nikola Topic and Thomas Sorber are still waiting to make their season debuts and will also miss the game. Branden Carlson and Chris Youngblood are expected to suit up for the contest, Clemente Almanza said.
Gilgeous-Alexander will be missing his first game of the regular season, and the Thunder will give the 2025 NBA MVP an extra two days of rest before playing the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 10.
In 23 games, the Thunder superstar is averaging 32.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the field this season.
Oklahoma City is expected to lean more on Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren in Sunday’s game, but the Thunder should still have plenty of depth. Nine players on the roster are averaging more than 25 minutes per game this season.
